What is involved in an Acupuncture session?
The first session typically lasts about one and a half hours. Joan will ask about your health, family and lifestyle history. She will then assess your Qi by taking your pulse, looking at your tongue, and palpating points along your abdomen. This assessment helps her to create a unique treatment plan.
Your Acupuncture treatment consists of inserting fiber-thin, sterile, single-use needles that unblock the Qi at various points along your meridians. The needles are left in for approximately twenty minutes. At subsequent sessions, Joan will ask what changes you have noticed since the last session. Subsequent sessions last about one hour.
While many people find relief from their symptoms after a single Acupuncture session, most benefit more from a series of treatments. When a treatment plan is designed, Joan will suggest a frequency and number of follow-up sessions.
True healing takes time, dedication and your sincere intention. Your participation is an integral part of the treatment process, in that your understanding and self-awareness of your body, your feelings, and movement, play a vital role. Your actions and commitment towards a healing lifestyle will help in promoting greater balance and harmony.
